Genital herpes and birth?

Hi ladies
I was wondering, do any of you have this crapy virus? I had it long before beeing pregnant and outbrakes are not very offten at all, but I am concerned about the birth, I am 23 weeks now and I read that you should take acyclovir from at list 36 weeks, but that scares me too. Any experiences regading this and vaginal birth? Would appreciate.

I always test positive for herpes. Never had an outbreak tho. Took the meds. I gave birth to my twins vaginally. They are healthy!

Does your OB know about it? If so, you should probably talk to them and see if C-section is a better option. I know you can transmit herpes to a baby during childbirth, if having a outbreak but id just talk to my OB to make sure.

I took my medicine starting at 36 weeks, but still ended up getting an outbreak. Had to have a c-section the day before my due date

The meds are completely safe. If you have an outbreak when you go into labor they will do a c section.

Talk to your OB. You’ll have to take the medicine or have a c section because baby can get it if you just give birth with no medicine

They will tell you when to start the meds I think it is 36 weeks and it doesn’t harm or affect the baby you’ll be fine
