How common is the hook effect? I’m 5w1d and this morning my test came back negative. I’ve had multiple positive tests and positive bloodwork as well.

Question

I’ve had no spotting or excessive cramping and my breasts are still swollen and very tender. It’s very very possible that I’ve got more than one growing inside due to being on Fertility medicine and having 5 follicles ranging from 18-40mm.

Maybe a faulty cheapie? I’ve seen the hook affect cause it to look lighter than normal but I’ve never seen it negative so early.

It's maybe a dodgy test love. You can try diluting your urine to try and counteract the hook effect. ❤️

If you want to compare line progression, you should do it with the same brand of test since the sensitivity can vary among different test. Its also possible that you just got a faulty test since it looks like its a cheapy internet one. Take another first response and see how that compares or ask your OB do do blood test to see what your actual number is at. 
From what i have read, the hook affect usually doesn’t happen until around or after 10w but dont know if its the same with multiples. Good luck, and congrats!
