Tonsils abnormally large?

My tonsils have been this large for over 5 years... Never caused any sickness really but I do breathe heavily because of them and its truthfully uncomfortable. Last time I went to try to get them removed the Dr said that insurances dont cover it unless (a) (b) and (c) yadda yadda... I feel like these are abnormal? But idk how to get them removed and get it covered by my insurance

They’re enlarged, yes.. but I wouldn’t say they’re abnormally enlarged. Unless they’ve been causing you constant issues like sleep apnea, reoccurring tonsillitis/strep, etc. they won’t typically do anything about it. 
In order for them to be removed, you’d need a referral to an ENT who would then make the final decision as to what should be done about them.
