Baths?

I was wondering how soon I could take a bath pp? I am a week pp today and miss baths so much. How long do I have to wait? Don’t want any infections over here. That’s for sure !

I showered until cleared by my doctor. Plus I was bleeding pretty bad and didnt want to let it ruin my bath.

I was told I could bath immediately with my vaginal birth (only had one internal stitch) but had to wait 6 weeks for c-section. It's tough to say, if you have external stitches I would wait till check up for the same reason c-section have to wait because of infection but if not then absolutely enjoy a bath

I had a vaginal delivery with a 2nd degree tear, my doc specifically said I can take a bath at home whenever I want, but to avoid public spas until after I’m cleared at 6 weeks.

Some people will tell you wait until you’ve been checked by a doctor, some will say just get one because they all did- it’s up to you. Everyone gives different advice. If it were me I’d get one.

I’m not sure on how many stitches I ended up with, but quite a few. My hospital encourage me to take a bath the day after delivery to help with swelling and discomfort. And since I’ve been home I’ve taken several!! 
(Side story I found funny) Back in the day 30+ years ago my mom said they would encourage them to soak with Epson salt to relieve swelling! She said they would often bring in a small bedpan and have them just put their bottoms in it 😂 sounds uncomfortable to me 😂

I started bathing around 3 weeks pp. I only bled for a couple days then had discharge for another 10. My ob said no baths until my 4 week check but I missed them so much and wasn’t bleeding so I went for it anyways🤷🏻‍♀️

My midwife told me I could bath after 24 hours and then she said to take a bath 2-3 times a day to help with healing up down there.

I didn’t have any tearing and while I was in the hospital I took 4 baths! The first one was 24 hours after I gave birth. 2 the next day and then another one before we left! But after the baths I actually felt so much better! And I also peed in the bath and it helped get the blood clots out! I just took a shower and rinsed off before I got out and got dressed! I feel like if you take one you will feel so much better!
