Admitted at 25 Weeks *update*
Hey August mamas!
I’m 25 weeks today...My little lady and I need your positive energy. I went for my 2nd ultrasound scan this morning. I had my first mid-pregnancy scan at 21 weeks and she was being stubborn so I had to come back for more pictures. The ultrasound went really well. He was able to get all the views of the heart he needed. The ultrasound tech was super awesome and explained everything to me, pointed out everything, and explained everything he was doing.
Toward the end he asked me to go pee because he said he wanted to check the distance between my placenta and cervix quick before he finished. He said my placenta seemed low and he explained all the different things that could mean - one of them just being that my bladder was full. So I went pee and came back, he gave me a vaginal and translabial ultrasound...left and told me to get dressed. Came back 15 minutes later and I said “I just got off the phone with your dr and she wants you admitted to labor and delivery”
He’s obviously not allowed to tell me anything more than that. So he walks me up to L&D, they put me in a room, give me a gown, ask me all the questions and I’m still like “I don’t know why I’m here” 🤷🏻♀️ They said my cervix was looking too short. I waited a while for my dr to show up. She checked me....my cervix is closed, I am not dilated at all, she couldn’t feel my fluids, but she said my cervix is very short. She is keeping me over night, laying with my feel elevated over my head to “fight gravity”, and I have to have another ultrasound in the morning to see if anything has changed. She mentioned bedrest if nothing looks any different in the morning. With 15 more weeks to go, I’m terrified of that possibility!

*Update* I was in the hospital until this morning. So Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and today. My Dr has placed me on official bedrest at home with weekly ultrasounds and appointments for the next 3 weeks. She is watching for me to get to 28 week, 34 week, 37 week marks. If all looks good within these next 3 weeks and I make it to 28 weeks, she might change me to partial bedrest. Thankfully, I am a teacher and once she heard I only have 5 weeks left of the year she said then I’m just done working. Thankful I don’t have a job where I have to take off a whole 15 weeks but bummed this time off now will take time away from my maternity time I have once the baby comes. Happy to be home and resting in my own bed!
