PCOS and pregnancy
Hi everyone. I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS. In my opinion my case is fairly mild as my only symptoms are longer than normal cycles (about 45 days on average) and mid cycle spotting and of course cysts on my ovaries. I do ovulate regularly, although it's usually very late in my cycle around CD 30. After 4 months of TTC we were blessed with our first pregnancy that sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks 4 days. So here's my question: I asked my dr. if having PCOS was going to cause complications during my pregnancy and she assured me that it would have little to no effect and essentially told me not worry and that everything looked great. However I've been doing extensive research and have found that to be completely false. Many women with PCOS are put on metformin or other medications to level their horomones during pregnancy depending on the underlying cause of the condition. I was offered none of that. They did the routine prenatal blood work and I assumed since nothing was said to me that everything was fine. Honestly I didnt know much about PCOS at the time and wish I had done a bit more research as I feel this could have been prevented. But I trusted my dr and was trying so hard to stay positive and not focus on what could go wrong. Did any of you have healthy PCOS pregnancies without medication? I'm definitely going to consult my dr when we conceive again, just curious.
