Did breastfeeding help you lose weight?

For all you ladies whom breastfeed before what your experience with weight loss due to breastfeeding?

Not a single pound 😭 anything I lost while I was breastfeeding was because I worked for it. And the last 15-20lbs was STUBBORN

I gained 42 lbs (from about 15% BF pre-pregnancy). I lost 23 in less than two weeks. It took me another year while exclusively breastfeeding (and pumping when I went back to work at 16 weeks PP) to lose 7 more. I kept nursing for another year and the l last 12 never came off consistently despite tracking macros, macro timing, and training 5-6 a week. I got pregnant while still nursing, so here I am. 🤷🏼‍♀️. My body just needed that extra weight to make milk. It wasn’t letting it go. 
There are many articles out there explaining how prolactin (the breastfeeding hormone) works to slow fat metabolism and stimulate ghrelin (the hunger hormone). Your body does not want to lose fat while nursing. It wants to know it has a safety net to keep your baby alive. 
That being said everyone is different and many people do see significant other weight loss. In my anecdotal experience, naturally thin people or people who lose weight easily tend to have an easier time than those of us who have to work at keeping our weight where we want it. I have no science for that, just my own observations. 
It was totally worth it though and I plan to nurse this one as long as he wants too.

I dropped 30 lbs in 3 months while breastfeeding but I ate very unhealthy so I know it was the breastfeeding that made me lose it 🙂

I lost 3 stone from my pre-pregnancy weight from breastfeeding my little girl! I was a UK size 14/16 before I got pregnant with her and now I’m pregnant with my second and I’m a U.K. size 10 now! I didn’t diet or exercise at all, it was a god send to me 😂

I gained 35 during pregnancy but lost 50 within 6 months PP, all thanks to breastfeeding! I ate like CRAP and didn’t exercise lol.

I weighed 168 at 9 months, and weighed 142 when I left the hospital after having my daughter. Within 2 weeks I was back down to 135. It was easier to lose weight with my second pregnancy than with my first.

Breastfeeding helped me lose weight tremendously. It seemed like the first few months I didn’t lose much but after 4 months the weight dropped off. I have remained 20 lbs lighter than when I conceived for over two years!

I gained about 50 lbs with my first. Starting weight at 115. I lost quite a bit at birth. While I was nursing I ate well, stayed hydrated, kept taking prenatals. When my pp bleeding stopped I started doing yoga, squats,butt and pelvic floor excercises and pushups while my daughter napped. Got back to pre pregnancy weight and was more tone than before by the time my daughter was about 4 months. Got pregnant again when she was 6-7 months. Currently 22 weeks :) everyone and every pregnancy is different.

Not sure how to answer lol so it did with my first two but my third BF made my body hold onto weight. Now I am expecting our fourth so who knows haha
