C section Moms....is it as bad as people make it out to be?

I had my first vaginally but am scheduled for a c section this time around. Everyone keeps telling me how miserable I will be, but I was already miserable after my first!!! 😣

I've had both.. my first child was born via c section and it was by far the worse experience.  I had my second child through vaginal birth and it was a much better experience.  I wouldn't choose to have a c section if it was an option.

My planned section in March was my only birth, it was a breeze and thoroughly enjoyable. Stay on top of pain meds and ask to be discharged with the strongest stuff you can get, even if not in pain I took them religiously round the clock and it probably helped loads.

I had a c section but it wasnt horrible. They'll want you to get up and at least walk to the bathroom and maybe try to use it.....i recommend it. Also while your there get up take your baby for a stroll in the crib thing around the baby and mama floor a few times a day. The more you move the faster you'll heal. I also felt better standing then sitting or laying. It Will hurt though especially that first time you get up you'll feel like your guts are gonna fall out. But use the girdle thing they give you and move. I went home 2 days postpartum and kept moving. By 1 week I felt great....it still hurt to roll onto my side at night and get out of bed but I got off my pain killers asap because I am breastfeeding and the pain killers were making my daughter sleep way too long in between feeds and i was having to force her awake to eat. Also shower while your there youll feel more like a person and not like someone just sliced you open.

I’ve only had c-sections so I can’t compare but I don’t think they are that bad. The first 3 days are hard because you are in pain and it’s hard to get up as you have zero abdominal strength. 14 hours after surgery I was up and walking to the NICU for rounds and it was a long walk (my last baby was born at 31 weeks). The best thing you can do for recovery is get up and walk even if it’s not far! I’m 16 days pp and have zero pain. I was taking ibuprofen and Vicodin for the 3 days I was in the hospital, only ibuprofen at home and took that for 3 days. Pain after that was more of a bruising feeling and it wasn’t enough for me to need pain meds. Just listen to your body and rest when you need to. Best wishes!

I had an emergency C- i was walking the next day after they took out my catheter- Mine wasnt bad! Lots of pain management, also my son was in the NICU so I had to pump and walk my milk down to him every 3 hrs 
It just hurt to try and use my stomach to get up, but I learned to use my hands and feet to get out of bed.

Mine wasn’t bad at all, borderline enjoyable after the first 2-3 days. Echoing other comments about walking as soon as the nurses will let you. I managed with only Motrin and Tylenol. Drink LOTS of water. The swelling is really bad post surgery and for me lasted about a week (legs, ankles, feet) and then all of a sudden disappeared which I attribute to drinking about 100 oz of water a day. I didn’t have any problems moving to and from my room to the NICU after the first couple days and truly felt great by the time I came home from the hospital. Good luck!

I’ve only had one baby and was a c section 9 months ago. Really was not bad it was all over in 10 minutes and me and husband just talked about random stuff the entire time so I didn’t have to think about what was happening lol recovering was fine, you can’t move fast for a little while and you have to stand up slow, if your bed is kind of high put the mattress lower cause you cannot climb for a little while (I had a tall bed) just drink water and walk every once in a while trust me it helps

I had my son c-section and it was a good experience. I can’t imagine the other way. I was in the hospital for 3 days and was discharged home. The 1st two days were painful to move and I was so scared my stomach was going to rip open 😕 But it didn’t and I was fine. I was nervous about trying to take care of him and getting better myself. I had a lot of help from family and friends..Don’t try to do everything on your own. If you have someone willing to help..Take advanced of it!! Best wishes :)

I had a fairly simple recovery from my c section. My baby was breech so I had to have a planned c section as she still hadn’t turned by 39+2. I was absolutely scared thinking it was going to be awful and that’s not what I got. I’m sure a planned c section is probably a bit easier than an emergency c section as you don’t have contractions or dilation involved as well. I used a belly binder which I’m sure helped quite a bit. I also made sure to walk as soon as I could and often. I had my c section at 7:30 am and I was walking by 3:00 pm that day and continuously walked at a slow pace while at the hospital. I took only a few pain pills at the hospital that second day which to me was the worst pain wise but the rest of my stay I only took Motrin. I also had a nerve block put in during my c section which may have also helped reduce the amount of pain I had, I’m not sure as this was my first c section. My c section was Monday, by that weekend I was able to do things around the house just at a bit slower pace because I didn’t want to overdo it.

I didn’t think it was to bad. One thing get up and walk around as soon as you can.  My husband aunt told me that. She a labor and delivery nurse. That all she does is c sections. She was there for mine.  I have my son about 5pm and by 7 am the next morning i had gotten up and walked to the bathroom (with help). Hurt like a mother (not as bad as labor).  If you have to sneeze or cough hold a Tummy. Oh man I forgot a few times and omg that hurt so bad.  I think what helped me the most was gotten up and walking.  I did stairs before I was told it was ok. Mostly because I have my son in July and no air conditioning at the time.  So we were in the basement a lot.  But I think I’m the long run it helped me. Sure I would get tired. Now what you can and can’t do.  If you are tired stop and rest. Don’t push to much.
