When did everyone switch baby to the big tub?

He’s almost gotten too big for the baby tub we have for him, so I decided to try and bathe him in the actual tub. The only thing that scares me is that he tries to stand up! I’m afraid of him slipping and hitting his head on the tub or faucet.. what age did you transition your babies? He’s 8.5 months btw

Around the same age but I got one of those mats that suctions to the bottom of the bath so it’s not slippery and a spout cover. We were pretty strict with him (in a nice way!) about “no standing during bathies!” Over and over and over, eventually he stopped trying

As soon as my son easily sat up without assistance we allowed him in the big tub. We got a mat for the bottom of the tub to keep him from slipping and a whale faucet cover

We never used a baby bath tub, both my girls got their baths in the kitchen sink or took a bath with me. Mainly cause nothing wrong with baths in the sink and to why buy a something like that that they out grow so fast, to me seems like a waste of money and annoying trying to find a space to store it when your not using it

We switched pretty early.  Around 3 months?  My daughter is a beast. She was planking in her baby tub and nearly falling out. She is a little older than your son, but she is trying to stand up now too.  You just have to watch close and redirect if possible.

We switched to the big tub at like a month old. He plays in the tub and has since the beginning. It got to hard for him to play in the baby tub so I moved him. He does great!

At 6 months when she started sitting unassisted. We got a gorilla grip mat for the tub and just use redirection if she tries to stand. No issues so far.

We never used a baby tub in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️ our daughter has always been in the actual tub. And by 8.5 months your child should be more than capable of sitting in a bathtub. But you absolutely need to be making that tub safer. I'm cringing just looking at it. Our tub has a bath mat in it so our daughter is never sliding when she's in the tub. We also never allow our daughter to stand in the tub UNLESS we tell her to (aka, we're draining the tub and drying her off). We also have a mat that goes over the side of the tub so that's a little more padded as well and we have a cover for that water spout.
