Check your babies' fingers and toes (and penises for little boys) periodically throughout the day. After a nap, during diaper changes, if your baby is fussy and you can't find a reason- whenever it crosses your mind.

As a first time mom, hair tourniquets are something no obgyn, midwife or doctor ever mentioned to me.
