Lip tie and tongue tie cause of latching issues
My 1 month old just got his lip and tongue tie revised via laser. Just a FYI for other new mommies because I wouldve loved to know the success stories before I went on for so long without it being fixed. He was exactly 1 month and 3 days when we got it fixed. His symptoms other than the obvious lip tie were: spitting up, shallow latch, clicking when eating, falling asleep while feeding, breathing problems when eating, choking on milk and the obvious physical lip tie you could see, the tongue I couldn’t. I attached the picture of the lip tie, the pediatric dentist said it was a severe lip tie and moderate tongue tie. We drove an hour to see Dr. Rez in Gilbert, AZ and would highly recommend. we are covered by care 1st and they don’t take it there so out of pocket it was $789 ($89 for exam and $700 for both ties to be lasered. Originally $560 per tie but they do a special if you do both). He works at island pediatric dentistry if any of y’all are in AZ. The procedure was less than 10 mins after they brought him in he was calm, they used numbing cream I believe, no needles. His latch feels SO much better now. That I know of he doesn’t seem to be in pain. I do give Tylenol like recommended before each stretch though. He doesn’t like our fingers in his mouth so I think he’s annoyed not hurting bc he stops crying as soon as you’re done.
