Helpful Lovenox tip - smaller needle

My doctor prescribed me Lovenox for a past DVT and even though I’m Type 1 diabetic and therefore pretty used to needles and having to inject myself with insulin, I freaked out when I saw the size of the genetic Lovenox needle on the pre-filled pen - it is massive compared to the insulin needles (see attached pics). I also read through a lot of threads on here to get tips/tricks but at the end couldn’t make myself do it given how long/thick the needle is. I went back to my doctor to see if I could somehow use a smaller needle (similar to my insulin ones) and she was able to prescribe me Lovenox in a vial and some short ultra-fine BD syringes to manually dose my prescribed amount of 0.4ml and inject it. Using the smaller needle I don’t even feel it go in/out; still get a little burn for a few minutes after from the actual medication but that’s unavoidable.

I’m not sure if this is an option for everyone or if my doctor was only comfortable/able to do it because I’m diabetic and used to manual injections, but wanted to mention it in case it could work for someone else; doesn’t hurt to ask your doctor if you’re interested. Also I included a pic of the syringes I use but they only handle up to 0.5ml so if your dose is higher your doc would need to prescribe a larger syringe. Hopefully this helps someone!
