Question

Anyone have experience with a side to side c section 1st baby then up and down with 2nd baby? Would like to know the risk difference and healing difference

I head the up and down is worse than side to side. I didn't even know they still done them

I’m having a vertical incision from above my belly button down to my pubic bone this time because I have complete placenta previa and placenta accreta so I need a hysterectomy. I’ve talked to my doctors and others who have gone through this and they say it is actually easier recovery than transverse incisions. My dr told me they are cutting through fascia (the part that holds your abs together) as opposed to through muscle like they do in a normal c section. He said it’s not as painful, but they will most likely use staples instead of glue like I had with my first one. It holds the skin together better since the vertical incision will have a little more strain on it. I haven’t gone through it yet, but I’m part of a support group on Facebook and a lot of women have said it was in fact easier and less painful than their original transverse c sections.

They were going to do up and down with my first as he was super tiny. Any baby under 1kg or 2 pounds 2 ounces require it that way. 
He was exactly 1kg.
