Medicated cycle - worth it?

Hey ladies. Question - my husband and I were ready to try an iui but decided to try on our own for the next 2/3 months (I just had an hsg on 4/25 and saline sonogram on 4/26, both normal). Our insurance won’t cover an IUI until we’ve been trying for a year, but the lady at my clinic told me that I could do a medicated cycle. Is it worth it? It would be with Clomid and Ovidrel. Any experiences/advice would be appreciated! Thank you! ♥️

i have PCOS, weve tried before with no luck ended up doing ivf. this time around we thought we give it a try a diffrent way first.
weve started clomid in November. there was some slight improvement in follicles- my first ultrasound showed 22 in my left ovary and way to to count in my right. we did 3 rounds of clomid before my obgyn referred us to a speacialist in KC. April was my first round of treatment there, they prescribed Letrozole- its shown to have a higher success rate in pcos cases. we went in on the 18th for another ultrasound. still nothing. so they prescribed another 10 days of Letrozole. cramping started the 26th. went back on the Saturday the 27th. i had one follicle at 14.4 in my left ovary (nothing in the right), and since they grow about 2mm a day i had to go back monday. my cramping got progressively worse all weekend. 
We drive all the way back to KC monday, with my ovidrel ive had since november, my one follicle was at a 17.6 and a 2nd follcile was magically there!!! went from basically nothing to being at 16.8. 
Took my Ovidrel on tuesday morning bd tuesday-wednesday. its been one week since, have another week before i can take a test. aunt flow is suppose to be here tomorrow, so 🤞🤞🤞🤞 no aunt flow shows up and next week i get positive!!!

My husband and I are doing our 1st cycle medicated right now. Starting taking clomid cycle day 3-7. Then last Friday went in for a scan. Showed I had 3 follicles. 1 on my left @ 18mm and 2 on my right @ 16mm. Ended up triggering Friday at that appointment. We decided to do timed intercourse and not add an iui this first round. When I had my HSG done they thought my right side was closed but it may have just been spasming during it. Anyway they prescribed me progesterone for the next 14 days...so fingers crossed this first cycle medicated worked. My husband and I had tried for 2 years on our own before we went ahead and decided to do this. Id say start where your comfortable. Do whats best for you!

My good friend tried for 2 years. Got pregnant after her hsg on her own. I would try the cycle. It can’t hurt!
