Thoughts on cord blood and tissue banking?

Hi ladies, just curios to see what you think about possibly banking your babies cord blood and tissue! Do you think is worth it yes and no and why? 😊

We did it with our first and we are doing it with our second! In the long run it’s worth it

We decided against it due to the cost. For those that decide not to, I highly recommend donating it! You can still do delayed cord clamping and it’s free to donate, so if you decide not to bank after all, it can go on to do a lot of good for another family!! ♥️

We did both, I’m happy about that. My ob said especially the tissue is showing very promising research, although it hasn’t been gone to clinical studies yet. We paid for 18 years, we can extend it later if we see that research is showing more promise for use in later in life.

When I looked into it I believe there were two options: public (free) and private (big money).  I wanted to do the public option but my hospital didn’t participate.

If we could have afforded it I would have done it. I also looked in to donating but due to my daughter’s premature birth it was not an option and they did delayed clamping on her

I believe it is worth it if you have the money and can afford it. It can benefit not only your child but a sibling or relative as well. I don't agree with how much they charge. I feel as though it is a ridiculous amount of money for average income or low income individuals to have to pay to POSSIBLY need. Apparently, if it isn't used before the child is 18 years old then it becomes useless.
