Lower abdomen cramping?

Are cramps in the lower abdomen the same as contractions? they feel a lot like period cramps but a little more mild. I don’t feel my uterus tightening. If they’re not contractions can this mean anything else?

I have the same period like cramping low too

I went to l&d for feeling strong period-like cramps and I was having contractions as well but the doctor said the cramps were normal and would be there for the rest of my pregnancy.

If they get worse go in.. or try timing them and call the on call nurse or ob

I had the same thing last week - period-like cramps (at 34 weeks along). Told doc and she said as long as no other symptoms present like fluid leaking or strong and consistent contractions, then nothing to be worried about. Said I can take Tylenol, but if that doesn’t help, then I should call her office or go to L&D if it’s overnight or the weekend.
