If you got a positive you stop testing. They only help indicate LH surge before ovulation which doesn’t last long

After your peak it stops showing positive.

Your tests will only stay positive for 12 to 48 hours, after that they will be negative until you either get your period or get a bfp.
Ovulation tests pick up the lutenising  hormone (lh) that only peaks just before ovulation occurs (it is what triggers the egg to release)
