Long unplanned induction!

So, this is crazy you guys. I cannot believe my daughter is finally here! Anyways, I’m sorry if this is long!! :/

I developed a really bad headache the night of May 6th around 8pm, it lasted all night long, I couldn’t sleep! Luckily I had a check up May 7th at 9am,

I arrived at my doctors appointment and as I was walking in the parking lot a lady came driving in like a bat out of hell and had to slam her breaks to not hit me! Needless to say my blood pressure definitely went up, and that didn’t help my headache!

I went in and of course my doctor said he wanted to check my baby more in depth because of my blood pressure being high. As he’s doing the ultrasound he says “hmm.. baby has lost weight” which of course would scare any mom, then he said “the fluid around her is low, we’re inducing tonight at midnight” so I instantly freak out. It’s almost as if it was a good thing that lady almost hit me, if that wouldn’t have raised my blood pressure he wouldn’t have checked on my daughter in depth like that!

I went in to my appointment with all means to plan my induction or csection for 39 weeks due to there being a long history of stillborn babies in my family, we wanted her out as soon as we could!

they checked my blood pressure again and it was higher so my doctor changed his mind and said “nope, go pick up your husband and head to the hospital now” y’all when I say I was freaking out, I mean it. I was terrified!

We arrived to the hospital around 10:30am by 12pm they started me on a pill (can’t remember the name) but it gets inserted right below your cervix to help soften and dilate. Well I was at a 0 to begin with, 3 hours later my nurse comes in to give me a second dose and she tells me I was at a 2 now and that was great progress! Well another 3 hours later around 6pm I get checked and I’m at a 3, I stayed at a 3 until 5:00 pm the next day. (May 8th!) my doctor broke my water that morning around 8, and I got the epidural around 9 because I shit y’all not contractions HURT so bad after your water is broken !! Well, hearing that I was constantly at a 3 was discouraging.

When he checked me at 5:00 pm I was dilated to a 6! They then told me it’s normal to dilate one centimeter every hour and that I should have a baby around 9pm or 10pm. Around 5:30 I asked my nurse to give me another dose on my epidural because I was starting to feel the contractions again, so she does.. 15 minutes later my doctor comes in and checks me and says oh my gosh okay it’s time to push. I was shocked, scared, confused.. all at the same time! By 6:18pm our miracle baby girl was born!

She got to spend the first few hours of her life with her daddy in the nursery. I wouldn’t stop bleeding so they had me in recovery for what felt like forever! After four years of trying, I still cannot believe I’m a mother!
