Is it worth it to have two breast pumps?

So my insurance covers my breast pump so I ordered the one I want. The company I ordered it from informed me that per my insurance guidelines they can’t process the order till I deliver. The processing takes a few business days then it takes an additional 7-10 business days to ship. I was really hoping to have my pump for when he’s born. Is it worth it to go buy a second one and just have two? Once back at work I will be pumping at work so I’m thinking this could maybe be a good thing? Help this FTM our ladies!

I think that it would be worth it. Can keep one pump at home and one specifically at work so you don’t need to lug it back and forth everyday. I would totally do that! If you’re worried about specifically not having one while still in the hospital after delivery because they can’t process/ship until delivery, more than likely the hospital will have one too

It can come in handy I have one from my first pregnancy and I bought another. You never know when you’ll need a back up for any reason and so forth. I got my second for $100.

Your hospital should have one you can use or rent out while you wait for yours to come in. You might also be able to try a different company if they haven’t processed your order. I walked away with mine same day at 24 weeks and got the spectra s1 but she had loads of ones to show me in person so I could see everything and then she had one of each with here. All I had to wait for was the kinde bags my insurance covers and extra parts but they came the next week.

I have 2 pumps and plan on keeping 1 at work so I don’t have to worry about bringing it back and forth. I’ve also forgotten my pump at home before and had to run back home to get it! It’s frustrating that your insurance company won’t allow it to be sent prior to delivery. My insurance company was 30 days prior to due date but I ended up delivering early and would have needed a pump at home ASAP as my baby is in the NICU. Thankfully I had one at home and my new pump came 5 days after I ordered it (which included a weekend). It’s not a bad idea to have 2 pumps but maybe wait a few weeks to determine if you really will need more than 1 before making the investment.

I needed a new one after 6 months. It seemed to not work as well after a while. I pumped for 13 months with my first at work and at night.

What insurance you have because I pre ordered mines in Jan and they said I can finish the process of ordering mines on may 19th that is enough time cause I'm due June 20 so pretty much almost a whole month before he is born unless he decides to come before his due date like all my other babies. Call your insurance and ask if there is anyway in you being able to get it before your baby comes

I read somewhere that we shouldn’t start pumping until 3-4 weeks into breast feeding. I think it would be okay to wait it out if you don’t want to spend the money on another breast pump. But having two couldn’t hurt as well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mine said the same thing but I then got it like 1 month later.... so not sure if the authorization got to my OB and she just approved it right away or what, but I did get it way prior to delivery

I have two. One manual and one electric. One will be more efficient than the other at some point during your pumping journey. At least that’s my experience with pumping after two pregnancies.
