Umbilical hernia causing pain

Hi, my daughter is 7 weeks old today and has an umbilical hernia. At her 4 week MHN check up (which was actually when she was 5 weeks) the nurse saw it and said not to worry, and that they only worry when it’s the size of a golf ball.

Anyway, over the last few weeks it’s gotten bigger but still not a golf ball size.

She kept getting really irritated and I could hear all the bubbles in her tummy and she would cry I pain. Everyone just keeps saying “babies cry” or “she’s just colic” etc but yesterday I realised that whenever there is pressure on her belly button / the hernia she instantly calms and is happy again.

Currently typing this with one hand pushing it in while she sleeps.

Everything I’ve read says they will heal themselves etc, and I obviously don’t want to put my daughter through a procedure but I have a gut feeling that it’s the hernia that’s caused all the pain.

Has anyone else experienced this?
