Our birth story🥰💙

So let me just start off by saying I’m an awful story teller😂 so this will be a to the point post lol!🤷🏻‍♀️

Our sweet boy was due May 23, but he made his grand entrance May 4, at 5:27pm, weighing 7 pounds 4oz!

I’m a type one diabetic so I knew from the start we wouldn’t make it to the full 40 weeks. With my first pregnancy I was admitted at 36+6 with severe pre eclampsia, and delivered by emergency csection the next night. This pregnancy was SO much smoother than my first and I had high hopes the PreE wouldn’t read it’s ugly head. Well I was wrong. While I didn’t have the classic PreE symptoms(extreme swelling, blurry/spotty vision, extreme high BP) I did have slight swelling in my feet, an elevated protein level in my urine, and low platelets.

I was admitted into the hospital at 37+1 for observation. After completing my 24hr urine sample, it came back with my protein level being 600(for reference I was admitted with my first and my protein was almost 7 THOUSAND🤯🤯). So because I was showing very early signs of pre e, both my OB and the on call OB decided it was best not to risk baby or I since we were both still doing wonderfully. Per hospital policy, patients cannot attempt VBAC with signs of Pre E, so that really hurt my heart as my first ECS was so traumatic and I was terrified. Thankfully I had my OB and the OB from my first pregnancy there to do my c section so I knew I was in great hands. (My first ob did not perform my traumatic csection)

At 5pm sharp I was getting prepped for the procedure. I won’t lie y’all, I was terrified right before they wheeled me back. I had a total freak out session, telling my husband I couldn’t do to let me get up and go home baby was just gonna have to stay put😂😂😂 I’m so handful he was there, he really helped calm me down. While he was suiting up, they wheeled me back to start the spinal and oxygen etc. I just had a half working epidural with my first so let me tell y’all, that spinal was AMAZING. I was able to stay awake for the whole procedure, even tho I was a little groggy 🥴 we got to see baby when they pulled him out, and I got to hear his first cry. Y’all it was beautiful😭😭😭❤️ my husband was able to go with him when he was cleaned up and was able to hold him. I’ve never seen that man cry so to see him in tears holding his baby boy was super emotional for me.

Our stay would have been super short, barely 48hrs but baby had some difficulty keeping his blood sugars up so we had to stay until he could have several passing numbers. Other than that he had no NICU times he was with my husband and I the whole time. He is so perfect and wonderful and I’m so thankful for how easy my pregnancy was, even tho it didn’t go the way I had wanted. Hold tight mamas who are still waiting for your babies, the moment is so beautiful and SO worth it!!!💙💙💙💙💙
