7 month old foods

So my son is a little over 7 months started to give him purées around 5 months but always made it super thick with cereal (that’s how he likes it) now he’s 7 months and I really want him to eat regular food but every time I’ve gave him anything he’s gagging before it even gets to his mouth lol it’s so weird like he’ll have a puff in his hand and will gag with it just in his hand he will eat them though. But everything else he just won’t the only things I’ve gotten him to eat are mashed potatoes, pancakes without the syrup, hash brown, and like the inside soft bread of pizza. He won’t eat any meat or anything else. I need help lol any meal ideas???
