Help! How do I keep my pregnancy a secret?

My husband and I just found out last week that after 1.5 years of trying I’m finally pregnant!! I’m about 5 weeks and we are planning on waiting until 12 weeks to tell family. We want to make sure we’re out of the woods since we know the first trimester is where you have the greatest risk of miscarrying.
My question is - how did you hide your pregnancy? I have a few family parties coming up and EVERYONE will notice if I’m not drinking so how did you combat this? My husband and I have been married for 6 years and my family has been relentless about when we are having kids and they always are looking for clues if I could be pregnant (very annoying) so I know they’ll notice me not drinking.
I was thinking I’d pour myself a drink and just never actually drink it and hope no one notices. Or possibly replace a legit bottle of wine with a screw cap with non alcoholic if that’s safe for me to drink 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you’re having mixed drinks, I got away with hiding mine from work friends by getting seltzer water with lime so that it looked like a vodka sprite or something. Another time, I got the same beer as my husband and he asked me to “hold his drink” at one point and then I handed him back my still full drink when he came back from the bathroom and I took his mostly empty one!

Wine: Juice in the same glasses you usually drink wine from. You can pour your own or have your husband bring you a glass or alternate. Make sure you always have enough in your glass that you don’t need someone to refresh you until either of you can take care of it. 
Mixed drinks: juice and soda (soda water/club soda/sprite/ginger ale) in the usual glass. Same refill plan as above.
Beer: cleaned out can/bottle refilled with a beverage you want to drink. In that case it can be basically anything.

I also hid my pregnancy until 12 weeks after 4 losses it just seemed easier until we knew for sure. All of our close family & friends knew we were trying & I just kept telling them I wasn’t drinking because you never know when it can happen.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ worked for me, they all seemed to understand. If I felt the need to explain further to some I usually said something along the lines of “well, I’d hate to find out that I’m pregnant a few days after getting really drunk, or that I was being extremely cautious considering our past losses because sometimes you have to sacrifice for the things you really want!” 
Honestly nobody ever really questioned me any further either.

Are you a beer drinker? If so I read the one post about this girl who would take her beer can in the bathroom dump it out and fill it with water lol I thought that was very clever.
Another one is if you go out to a restaurant make sure your the first one there and order just club soda with lime and make sure the server know to only give you that without spoiling the surprise. Another clever one☺️😉 hope this helps. Hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy!!

I always think these post are so sad. You don't need to explain yourself for not drinking. A simple "I just wanted juice/water/soda" should be more than enough explaination, and anyone who has a problem with that or thinks negatively of you for not drinking alcohol is the one with a  problem.

These are great ideas! I’m not a beer drinker but I do drink cider so that could work. I also drink wine and vodka so these other ideas would definitely work.
I have some bbqs at other houses coming up so I could always bring cider and make my husband chug a bottle so I could fill it with something else.
