Why did I create a Baby Registry ?

So I just recently had my baby shower . Well, only 2 people actually got me something from my registry. Don’t get me wrong , I appreciate every gift I received , but now I have way too much stuff of the same . For example , I got about 14 bath towels , so much clothes I could dress 3 babies , 3 security blankets , etc... and all the items I really need  ,I unfortunately did not receive . So I guess I will have to purchase everything myself after  all . I feel like I sound ungrateful, which I’m definitely not . I’m still gonna put everything to good use , but I guess I’m just frustrated, that I spend hours and hours creating my registry , picking each item carefully and it was all for nothing pretty much . I also can’t return anything , since I don’t have any receipts...

Honestly I’d check amazon, target and the main stores locally to you and just return. Usually if you say you had a baby shower then people at the stores have no problem checking to see if it was their item or not. Clothes especially usually you can google the items and try and research before. That’s what I did with my first child. You don’t sound ungrateful. Unfortunately people
Love love love to buy clothes Bc it’s a cute item instead of say butt paste even though you may need that more.  I found out the hard way. When I attend baby showers now all I do is make a basket with a bunch of useful items.

You don’t sound ungrateful at all. People should pull items from registries because everything you could need is there and you don’t run the risk of getting too much of one thing. With my first pregnancy, we were going to be moving within a month after having my son and wouldn’t have the space for anything really so we asked for only gift cards but if anyone wanted to buy a present to please use our registry. Well we had like 3 things purchased off our registry 2 gift cards and the rest of the presents were literally what seemed like 100’s of blankets and clothes that my son wouldn’t even be able to wear because that’s something else people don’t consider is the timeline of the seasons coinciding with the age range they’ll be. I was upset because I never wanted a shower in the first place and we ended up having to give away a lot of what we were given because it was too many of the same thing. So no, you’re not selfish or ungrateful. People just think they know best or are doing something nice but really can’t understand.

Scan everything with the target registry app! If it comes up mark it bought and target will let you return it for a gift card to get what you need!

We just had this happen this weekend, so we used the target, buy buy baby, Amazon and Walmart scanners on the apps. We determined what stores we need the most at and put them in return piles. We did learn you get the best bang for your buck at Target. BBB will take 20% off each item bc they assume someone used a coupon 😒 we were not pleased with that, but we did put it towards our stroller and returned enough stuff at Target for a car seat.

Ugh that is so frustrating. I feel you. It sucks to put in so much thought to then get nothing 🙄 ...but at least you know what you want. And you usually get a discount on everything left in your registry after a certain date. So it’s still good you made it even if you have to buy everything.

This happened to me sort of too, and I just returned everything I didn’t need. I got $40 at target and $140 at Walmart. I’ve used it all to buy stuff I really need!!

Same! I used the Walmart scanner on the app and brought back a huge bag of clothes/towels and got store credit so we could at least buy diapers!

That’s why I got what I knew I needed and only put random things here and there on my registry to avoid that.

Just return stuff for store credit or do an exchange. Most stores will let you do that without the receipt, the only down fall is you may not get the full value of the item if it went on sale since it was purchased. Sorry that happened to you, I think most people don't put much thought into gifts and end up rushing to the store the day of the event just to show up with something. Good luck.
