CAn someone actually break their own water with finger nails?

I was at my 35 week check up and she was telling me that is it very important to not check yourself for dilating because I can accidentally popped my own water with my finger nails. I never knew this. This scared me. Then she told she has popped a few herself so she doesn’t start checking til 37 weeks

You could give yourself an infection, or yeah it's probably possible as you aren't trained.
I think women, should leave it to the professionals anyways

Technically it is possible but you put yourself at extreme risk for infection and a cord prolapse. I wouldn’t even recommend someone checking their own cervix for dilation let alone support someone breaking their own water 😩
