How far is your hospital?

What’s the farthest you’d go for a good hospital? Would you plan for one significantly farther away if it was much better?

I’m in a semi-rural area, and there is a hospital in my hometown, but I hate it. They’ve been sued for malpractice multiple times (once for amputating the WRONG LEG on a patient even!) and I’ve had billing issues with them in the past. I just don’t trust them to follow my birthing plan.

There is another hospital 30 minutes away in the town where I work, and I have never been there but everyone at my work has always spoken of them very poorly and jokes about how desperate you’d have to be to go there.

The next hospital after that is a full hour away but it is a much larger city than either of the other two options. My best friend does live in that city so I thought if I got close to my due date I could go to her. Only thing is... babies don’t care about your plans sometimes.

I don’t know what to do, it’s a hard choice. :/
