I have to share this with you all
My cousin has a very opinionated wife, Me and my cousin are super close which means me and his wife naturally spend time together also.
We’re both mothers, she has a 6 year old and I have a nearly 4 year old, obviously the subject of our births came into conversation. Now I had a vaginal birth with just gas and air, she had a C-section. I stated if I ever had enough one I’d request any possible pain relief offered to me, I’ve seen how painful birth is and I couldn’t do it again!! SHE INSTANTLY SHAMES ME!! Saying how that’s so selfish, and how it’s bad for the baby, and if she ever had another one she wouldn’t have ANY pain relief. That was cool, I felt a bit hurt, but people have their opinions and that’s fine!
Low and behold she falls pregnant, and she keeps saying ‘I’m going to do this all natural, anyone who has pain relief during labour is selfish, and I’m not going to be ‘that’ person’
Well, well, well. Guess who asked for an EPIDURAL during their vaginal birth.
I can’t help but feel a little smug right now, baby and mummy are very happy and healthy, and that’s the main thing, but I feel less shamed now.
No matter how a woman decides to give birth, it shouldn’t be shamed!
