Marrying into a different religion

So I went to a Christian college for a year and for the most part people there are open minded. A had a class mate and of course she’s Christina but she told me her dad is islamic and her mom is Christian. Carats thing about this is, her dad was very strict with his children and would make them go to his church and the mom was the same way. The parents are married and they have two different religions. Do you think it’s a good idea to marry someone who does not have the same faith? Do you think it would be hard to raise children and cause confusion in them?
