OB referral for Tricare ??

Question

I went to the hospital yesterday for blood pregnancy test to confirm, and I am. They said they would refer me to an OB in town since they don’t have one on base. They said I can request a certain doctor I want which I did then they referred me to someone else over an hour away. I want to know if I need to call tricare to ask them personally to give me this doctor? I am so confused there’s a million different phone numbers online and I have no clue who to call.

Just went through this!
I started asking other wives who had recently given birth who they used. I also asked the referral manager (and guess what - it was the same doc!)
Very happy with the choice. Referral management left a message on my cell and I called them back. Whole process took a week. Apt off base within two.

Yeah that makes sense. Nearest base to me has some clinics that only see active duty personnel but still has a full functioning hospital amd everyone else has to go outside of the mtf or to the nearest mtf that will accept them. 
Call the office of the provider that you want to see and get all of their information. The address, the phone number, fax and whatever else and call tricare care directly. They should transfer you to a referral line or to someone that can help you with getting the referral sent directly to that providers office. As long as the provider accepts tricare you shouldn't have any problems getting your referral sent to that provider. Even if tricare sends your referral out to a provider that doesn't mean you actually have to be seen by that provider.

I had something funky like this happen to my referral once and I had to go through the clinic again. Tricare won’t do anything with it but approve it

Question, how does a on post hospital not have an OB clinic or floor? If they have an OB floor or clinic then they have on post OB/GYN or Nurse Midwives, because of the female airmen on post.

Your PCM has to refer you to an OB, if you want one  off post, otherwise you will be referred to an OB on post. Tricare prime requires referrals, Tricare select does not.
