Anyone know anything about sleep training?

I need some advice. First time mom to a 6 month old. My son HAS to be rocked to sleep because if I just lay him in his crib, he screams and cries and acts hysterical. I would love to still rock him to sleep at night but is there any way I can get him to nap during the day with out being rocked? I also have trouble just letting him cry and I prefer a method of not crying if there is one 😬🤷‍♀️

Have you tried methods of comforting while in his crib? Such as hand in chest gently rocking or slight pressure, saying shhhhhh. Sometimes it works for my daughter and sometimes it doesn’t but worth a shot to try and calm him down without rocking him to sleep. Get him comfortable with falling asleep on his own

Look up “pick up put down.” It’s a method where you stay present and keep picking up to soothe and then putting back down until baby is either asleep or upset again and then you repeat as needed. It’s not a quick method but none of the no-cry methods are.

I totally rocked my daughter until about 11 months because she liked it like that for naps and bedtime.... plus I knew it would end soon and I wanted to suck up every moment... (kinda like holding her bottle I didn’t have her do that until 1)....around 11 months she started really fighting me .. bouncing up and down or crying really bad ... like she wanted to stay up and look around...I was like “nope” and put her in her crib... I’d make sure she was tired but not over tired.... she’d cry for 5mins and I’d go in and put her blanket on her and tell her I loved her ... and walk back out... I didn’t pick her up I’d just lay her back down if she was up...then I’d let it go for 8mins and walk back in and do the same .... then 10mins... 15mins... ect... the longest it ever took for her to go to sleep was 40mins.... now she’s 13 months and generally she goes to sleep with in 10 mins and I don’t go in at all unless she’s crying really hard... most of the time it’s a “I don’t wanna sleep cry” so I ignore her... sometimes she goes right to sleep ...it seemed easy and I didn’t feel bad about doing it... she is an easy going baby tho...
