so far it’s been 2 weeks, almost 3. I have a mutual friend (let’s call him Al) who knows what my ex is going through and is willing to copy-paste the text(s) he got.

should I let time play out? or should I just tell Al to send them to me and finally know why I got broken up with/what my ex is going through?

Al said he’d rather have my ex tell me himself, but based on how long it’s been and how amazing my ex is at communication 🙄 I don’t think that will happen unless I ask to talk in person about the breakup.

if I ask to talk in person (probably after a month of being broken up?) then I’d get a reasoning, but I’d either get a concrete “no we will not get back together” or “I’d like to get back together”. :/
