Is it normal to not get a 12 week scan?

Because i was under the impression (ftm so im clueless) that this is when they do the NT scan but when i went in they just listened to the heartbeat and thats it my next appointment ill be 17 weeks only have had the very first scan at 8 weeks, was i supposed to schedule this myself? I feel like they should have informed me of this because they know its my first. Is it ok that i didnt get it?

My doc sat me down be went through he options, strange that they didnt speak to you about it. But yes as said it’s not covered by any insurance, you pay out of pocket. Still time to book it in if you want. Mine was $185 in Australia.

The NT scan is a separate thing you don’t have to do. When I opted for it my doctors office sent me a referral for an imaging clinic and I set up the appointment there. If it isn’t covered by your insurance and your doctor felt you were low risk for Down’s syndrome they might not have moved forward with that. If you want the scan, contact your doctors office and I’m sure they can give you more info and help you arrange that.

I’m in Canada and this scan is standard and covered by health care. The only reason you wouldn’t have it here is if you get NIPT instead or decide to decline.

Since I am over the age of 35 they scheduled it for me but it was still optional.

Yes. I had my scan at 9 1/2 weeks. Won’t have another until 20 weeks but they check baby with a Doppler each time
