36 hour labor but worth it!
On Wednesday 5/29 I woke up at 6 and when going to the bathroom I had my bloody show. My husband and I went for a walk and when we got back contractions had started but were minor. I called my mom who booked her flight to come in that night at 10:30 then when we picked her up my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart so we went to the hospital. When they checked me  I was at a 2 & 70% effaced I asked then if I should just base my next visit on pain instead of timing on which they said yes so we left around 1 am and went home. The check caused my contractions to worsen and my back labor began to hurt. The timing slowly got closer together so there was no sleeping that night. Thursday morning around 8:30 we went back with contractions 2 minutes apart and I was at a 3-4. They admitted me and labor continued until about 3:30pm, when they checked me and I was a 5-6. I gave them the okay to break my water and at the same time they gave me a dose of fentynal, which last up to 2 hours. About 1 hr 45 minutes later they checked me again because I told my mom and husband I had to poop and I was at a 7. By this point I had been in labor about 35 hours and was exhausted and in so much pain and only at a 7 so I was very disheartened as I had wanted to go as natural as possible but I was losing steam fast. 15 minutes later I sat straight up in bed and told them I was pushing and couldn’t stop. My mom told me to stop because I wasn’t dilated and it could inflame my cervix and make it worse and ran to get the nurse while I pushed two more times. When the nurse came in to check me she said she’s at a 10 we can start pushing. At this point I had no pain meds in my system and things became blurry. After every push my eyes were rolling in the back of my head. At some point we had the doctor come in along with 5 nurses and I pushed when told. At one point I remember saying the ring of fire is real and then my husband saying he could see her I had just a little bit more to go. I put my hand down there and when I felt her hair something in me clicked and I got my last dose of energy and pushed her out and at 6:14 pm our perfect daughter was born weighing 6lb 9oz and 20 1/4” long. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but holding her now I would do it again this very moment if I had to.
