Trisomy testing = gender?

Question

I keep seeing people say they had a NIPT testing done and found out the gender. Is this the same test? I had a blood draw to check for the trisomy numbers and a repeat in 4 weeks but my doctor said it doesn’t tell the gender? 😫 how is everyone else finding out with genetic testing?!

From what I understand, NIPT is a one time blood draw. It tells the gender and is more accurate with risk of chromosomal abnormalities. The NT Scan and Sequential blood tests (taken four weeks apart) don’t tell gender. They’ve been around longer and so most insurance companies will cover this. My insurance company still considers NIPT to be experimental, so it wasn’t covered. So I’m not finding out the gender yet either :)

My doctor just said "were gonna do the blood for the down syndrome and stuff" 😂😂😂 and then the nurse said "and then we can tell you the gender" lol so idk which one I had

Mine included the option of finding out gender, but it couldn’t be determined because of how early i did my NIPT. Had a redraw and hopefully it can be determined this time.

Some pay extra out of pocket or their insurance covers it.

Im dog the nipt test because i'm over 35 it's covered.  gender is the least of my concerns with my age im at higher risk of abnormalities.  The other test is the quad screen which is almost sideways covered but doesn't give gender.  I bypassed it with my other 2 but this time i have concerns

I’m in Australia and here it’s called a Genesyte NIPS test, they do the blood test and it works off bubs DNA in my blood. We could’ve found out the gender but we want a surprise. But everything seems different in Australia to what I’m reading in all these forums!
