Stop breastfeeding before 1 year ?

Question

Has anyone stopped breastfeeding before a year? I know that’s how long is suggested . I know I will get hate for this so I’m positing anonymously but I’ve only been breastfeeding for a month and I’m so tired from it . I’m pretty positive my baby still hasn’t latched properly so I’m constantly sore and currently cluster feeding has me so exhausted . I’m trying to go as long as I can but I just don’t see myself making it a year 😫 anyone ever been in the same situation ?

I was in the same boat! I was miserable. I cried every single feeding. We finally at 9 weeks realized he had a tongue tie and got it clipped. We have now been successfully breastfeeding for a year. 
There is so much pressure to breastfeed. I felt like a failure when I wanted to quit. I felt like I would be judged. I felt weak. There were days in the beginning I would exclusively pump all day and just bottle feed because I couldn’t stand for him to latch. Breastfeeding is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Nobody should ever look down on people who don’t do it. Sometimes it really sucks!

Can you see a lactation consultant? If you can get the latch corrected it could be smooth sailing. Or maybe a La Leche League support group or one at your hospital.

I breastfeed for the first 5 months, then breastfeed and pumps due to going back to work til my bub was 9 months and in the last month I’ve switched to formula except for over night where i still breastfeed so I do have to get up to make a bottle in the middle of the night and it’s working for us. as long as your bub is being fed it doesn’t matter if it’s breast or formula as long as your happy and it’s working well,

If you don’t want to exclusively breastfeed, you could combo-feed or switch to formula completely. Regardless of what you choose, baby needs with breastmilk or formula until a year old. It’s up to you to decide what works best for your family.
