Baby names
So.. We don't know the gender yet, but if its a girl, well.. My husband is pretty set on Sakura (which is a Japanese name, and neither of us are even remotely Japanese). I also love the name Sakura, but I've already had people tell me they think its weird. On the one hand I agree with my husband that we shouldn't care what others think, but on the other hand.. I don't know. IS it too weird?
Just fyi, no we are not chosing names from characters in anime or video games, etc, we just both think the name and meaning are beautiful.
I don't think I'm going to be able to change my husband's mind either way, but would appreciate some outsider perspective. ;)
Edit: to the one who asked about the pronouciation, we would prefer the Japanese way.
Edit #2: Also, our first was a girl and we named her Kyna (its Irish) even though my husband still wanted Sakura. So I feel like he should get a little more sway this time lol, BUT I really like the name Sakura too (I'm just a lot more affected by what others think compared to him).
