How to tell my mom I don’t want her moving here under any circumstances?

My mom is mentally unstable and an alcoholic. She has basically nothing tying her to where she lives now. Im 30 weeks pregnant and she wants to move to my city to “be a family”. This is actually my worst nightmare and hell on earth. How do I NICELY discourage her?

Approach it from a place of love - tell her you love her and would like to have her there but in the state she’s currently in, it’s going to make things really difficult for you because of her drinking... ask that she makes it a priority and focus on being sober for a whole before even thinking or talking to you about a move. That you need stability for the baby and want to see her healthy so she can be around for years and years to watch her grandkids grow up.

You can politely and firmly tell your mom that you don't want her moving to your city
However, you can't prevent her from moving closer to you of her own accord. But what you can do is set very firm limits on her access to your family. Keep your doors locked, and don't give her a key. Don't answer the door if she just is just "dropping by", and don't feel obligated to answer the phone when she calls. Whatever limits you decide to impose, be consistent and in control.
