Comparing other children to yours.

Hi ladies,

So this is mainly me just venting..today I’m with my MIL at an appt for her and she says something about my daughter (18mo) not sitting at the table, crawling around (actually she walks) anyways she would sit on my lap, in between my hubby and I and on grandma and grandpa..& she didn’t was all over. She said she asked her husband my hubbys dad is their kids did that and he said ‘no our children sat at the table and didn’t get up until they were excused and then took their plates to the sink and wash up or whatever’ & I go first of all she is 18 months she couldn’t get up and take her plate to the table even if I told her to (😂😂😤) and second we could hear her sceam her head off from wanting down or have a nice dinner. & she goes oh no I’m not saying you’re doing it wrong and blah blah..& I go no but I can’t compare my kids to what your kids did what 23 years ago? What you did as a kid what I did or what my mom did, because first it’s a different era in time, & I don’t have time to compare my child to others, although it’s hard especially when people compare their kids to yours...you can’t please everyone nor should you want to..

What do y’all think? She’s super sensitive to what I say a lottttt 🙄😬 & this isn’t the first time a subject like this had come up the ‘my kids never did this or my kids did this’ I’ve asked my husband before is what I said rude? So I’ll ask you was I rude? In what I said since y’all don’t know how I said it (which wasn’t rude😂)
