Insurance recommendations??

Question

Just found out I’m pregnant! My husband and I are thrilled but overwhelmed as it was a surprise. Our current insurance covers nothing pregnancy related and we really can’t afford to pay everything out of pocket without going into debt. 
How did you all do this?
I’m looking for new insurance that can reduce our costs. 
Do they let you switch already knowing you are pregnant?
Can you switch mid year? 
What happens if you move states?
Currently in NC, planning to move to TX at about 6 months pregnant in November

Typically you can't enroll for new coverage except during open enrollment times unless you lose your current coverage or get married, they consider it a preexisting condition. The insurance company doesn't make a significant difference as much as the policy. There are hundreds of policies within each company, you need to check out the deductible, coinsurance percentage, daily hospital rate, and out of pocket max for the year to get an idea of how much you'll end up paying. 
Pregnancy should be covered by most insurance, but that doesn't mean you won't pay for the deductible or coinsurance. Are you certain pregnancy isn't covered by your insurance, or you just haven't met your deductible yet?
Another option is if you qualify for medicaid you can get that as secondary insurance.

I have pregnancy medicaid and i can renew it so my baby will be covered after birth

Presbyterian treated me really good I never had a single problem and I was on Medicaid after I already paid a fee and they reimburse me my money now I'm on my own insurance so they won't be the case now but I like them and I will go back for my next child

I would look into pregnancy Medicaid in your state. I think they allow some in situations like yours, but it probably depends on the state.
