I'm on my period and I don't want to make a mess or get my towels bloody. Is it safe for me to have an orgasm with a tampon in? I'm not talking about penetration I'm just talking about my clit. Any advice?

Completely fine.
You’ll probably find that you’ll have to change your tampon after though. Your natural lubricant (with it being mucus based) won’t be absorbed by said tampon, instead it will sort of coat it, and thus any further blood won’t be able to be soaked up after.
