What do you think of people altering artwork, giving credit to the artist, but not saying they have altered it?

I don’t really know how to word this but I’ll explain two situations to give you an idea of what I’m talking about. 
First situation:
I am doing some artwork for people for a little extra money. My friends cousin wanted a portrait. We agreed on the price and all that. I finished it and gave it to her. I made sure it was what she wanted and she liked it. She said she loved it and she seemed really happy with it. She only wanted it in black and white. No colors. I follow her on Instagram and she posted a photo and tagged my art account in it which would be fine normally, but she added a bunch of shitty paint to it. It looks awful. The paint seriously looks so terrible and she said I did the portrait and tagged me and all that so it looks like I did the ugly paint. I don’t want that associated with my name because it doesn’t look good at all. 
Second situation: today I saw on reddit something that reminded me of this situation. A photographer did a shoot for someone and the person in the photos then went on to photoshop them to try and make themselves look “better” and did a very terrible job. They tagged the photographer in the photos but made no mention of them altering the photographer’s work. 
So, what do you think of these situations? Do you think people should put a disclaimer that they altered the artwork they’re saying someone else did? Do you think attempting to take legal action to remove the photos (if the people refuse to) is too far?

I do photography as a little side hobby. Usually , what all my friends do, is in the contract they state that you may not alter the photo.  I think it’s shitty if someone alters someone else’s work to begin with & it shouldn’t be done. It’s disrespectful and can hurt a person’s brand & integrity.

I’d probably add a comment saying something along the lines of ‘I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I see you added your own touch to it. I totally could have added color if that’s what you wanted - I hope you’re still satisfied with it!’ Something that isn’t rude, but also lets people know that you didn’t add the coloring.

I mean I'd just untag myself... As an artist, I've never had someone alter my artwork other than using a shitty filter, I also don't do like Facebook, i do Amazon and eBay. And deal with people in real and none of the people I know have done this.. so it seems like a jealousy thing to me and just kinda disrespectful.. that's me though, like I put a lot of heart and soul into my shit so seeing it altered by someone would just destroy my heart and soul to it's core. Like if you don't like something about it.. tell me, I will fix it. If it's not what you wanted then I will apologize.
I have a book illustration coming up and I've been saving my painting hands lol but since that is business business, I wouldn't take it personally, if they altered it.. however, if I was doing a quilt, an oil painting, ornament, or embroidery job for someone as a gift.. id break my heart.. randos don't know me so it doesn't matter to me... I'd untag, and let them know I didn't add the color. Family/friends, it would shatter my heart.. and this is why I don't do paid work for my family.

I know many photographers don’t allow their photos to be edited in any way. It’s their property, even if you’re in it. 
I’d assume other artwork would be the same.

I think it’s shitty to alter someone’s else’s artwork and even shittier to post the alteration online. If it’s not already, it def should be illegal. It could have a huge impact on the artist.

Your friend was in poor taste, but I suppose since it was a gift she could alter it if she chooses. Like you said that's not your work with the alterations so just untag yourself lol 
Photographers usually put something in the contract, as another commenter mentioned. So yeaa that'd be illegal in that case.
