Do you expect your partner to help with the kid(s) early morning wake ups?

We had a big discussion about this on the weekend with family as we were at our family cabin. My husband has never in 2 years ever woken up to help with a crying baby. My mother in law said the same. Her husband never once helped her with the kids in the morning. A friend said the opposite. She expects her husband to give her at least 1 weekend to catch up on her sleep. Well my mother in law felt it was ok for the mother to own the responsibility entirely in the morning as “most women do”.

How does it work for you. Whether you are working outside the home or you’re a stay at home mom it doesn’t matter. Are you 100% responsible for the kid(s) in the morning? If you don’t have kids what do you expect from your future children’s father?
