Gender selection?

Just curious if anyone has done this or know anyone who has? I’ve always thought about doing it if we can afford it. Would be our 3rd and final baby and would love to pick the gender this time!

You have to do IVF to select the gender. You do all of the injections and hormone treatment to get your ovaries to form a lot of eggs at once. You go in for the egg retrieval when everything is ready which requires you to be put under. They use a needle and a vaginal ultrasound to suck the eggs out of the follicles. You bloat up and feel like crap afterwards, especially if you have OHSS from the retrieval. Your SO provides sperm, and they will use that to fertilize the eggs they retrieved that were mature. They will wait for the embryos to reach 5 days. They will freeze the ones that made it and discard the ones that didnt develop. They will determine the sex through PGS testing. It's a test they run to make sure that the embryos are genetically normal before they implant them. They determine the gender from this as well. Then you go back and get the embryo implanted that is genetically normal and the sex that you want. 
It really is a long, expensive, and physically and emotionally draining process. If you really care that much about the gender of your next baby, then more power to you. If not, then I personally wouldn't put yourself through it. I only know about it because I had to do IVF just to get pregnant. We did not do the genetic testing though. My doctor didnt recommend it at my age because there are embryos that test abnormal, but are fine in the end. Currently 22 weeks 5 days with a healthy baby boy.

I’ve never heard about this but from what my midwife told me that it’s the male’s genetics that determine the gender🤔 Following this because I’d love to know more about it!

You can do gender selection with IUI but the chances of achieving desired gender is not the same as IVF. Prices are not the same either. You just have to find a clinic that is will the spin the sperm and separate it for you. IVF was estimated to us at 15k+ each cycle, IUI out of pocket was $800 with medication each cycle.

I believe the only way you could do this would be to try to conceive using IVF. I’ve never heard of anyone doing it for that reason and I don’t know whether doctors would be willing to preform IVF purely so you can select the gender. It would be a very expensive and invasive way of going about a pregnancy and obviously the IVF success rates are not that high, particularly for lover couples so it may be difficult x
