Moonstone ring

Hi ladies! I’m looking for an affordable engagement ring that I like and I found one I absolutely love! However, it’s a moonstone ring instead of diamond, which is perfectly fine when talking about looks and price, but is it worth it? By that I mean will the stone hold up? A diamond is a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale and a moonstone is about a 6-7. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the moonstone cracking or breaking? I don’t want to pay so much just for the stone to not hold up a year later.

I’m a science teacher so I won’t be doing much of anything that could harm it accept by accident. I just wanted some information/advice. Thank you!
