Vasa previa anyone?

In my 20 wk ultrasound, I was diagnosed with vasa previa (not placenta previa). My doctor said not to worry about it just yet, and that they’d recheck me. Well, last week at my 24 recheck ultrasound, the vasa previa was still present.
My doctor said they’ll recheck me again at 28 weeks and 32....but if it doesn’t improve I’ll have to have a scheduled/early c section at 34 weeks. That seems so incredibly early and I’m worried that my baby will have health issues with being born so early.
Has anyone else had vasa previa that can share their experiences? Anyone else have to deliver at 34 weeks? This isn’t how I thought it would turn out.

I delivered my youngest son at 32+6. Not because of vasa previa though. He didn’t have time for steroids, so struggled in the first few days more than a lot at this gestation, but if yours is planned you should have time for steroids. He’s about to turn 18 months and you couldn’t tell he was prem now!

I had it with my son at 20 weeks, but it did not clear until 25 weeks.  But as my belly grew the vessels did shift a safe distance from my cervix and I was able to have him vaginally at 37 weeks.  It was a wild ride with him because my anatomy scan results were vasa previa, low lying placenta, and marginal cord insertion.  But despite it all, he was a healthy boy and over 7lb at 37 weeks.  I sure hope the next time you get checked it will be cleared ❤️ - hugs to you because I know how stressful it can be!

My sister in law had it. She was closely monitored and had him at 39 weeks vaginally.

People tend to forget pregnancy is actually 42 weeks. Full term is not until 37-38 weeks. 34 weeks seems way too early. Unless I or my baby is in live or die then I personally wouldn’t do it. babies need every second in the womb to grow strong and healthy.

I agree with others about 34 weeks being early but not too early and your drs will have time to prepare and give your baby the best odds at being healthy.

Never heard of that but lots of babies born at 34wks dont need any nicu time and are born completely healthy I would ask about steroids for babies lungs just to see how dr feels about that
