Relationships don’t work because your partner is your “soulmate.” They work because you choose to be with this person no matter what. If you go through relationships believing in the concept of soulmates I feel like that would actually weaken the bond. Im not with my husband because he’s my “soulmate” I‘m him because I choose to be with him, and I will choose him every day for the rest of my life. 
Tbh I think the whole soulmate thing is a cop out. Psychologically speaking, love is as much a conscious choice as it is a feeling (and yes, that’s been researched and tested and proven!)
