Adult living at home. What do you think about it?

My brother is 27. He’s single and not looking. He has a job. He pays rent and helps with things around the house. 
I’m 20 and have a kid I’m married but he’s not living here. We are in the process of moving (it’s a far move)
Our foster brother is 20. He has a job. Pays rent. Dates but doesn’t bring anyone home. And helped around the house. 
My sister is 17. She goes to school. Has a plan for life. No kids no boyfriends. And helps around the house 
My mom had 6 kids. Two of them have gotten married (one had kids) and moved a few blocks away. 
My mom always says if there’s no need to move then why move. My brother who is single with no kids for example. What would he do at home all day if he moved out? He’d be paying unnecessary bills JUST so he can say he’s not living at his parents. 
Same with me. I’d probably just go to my moms all day so I wouldn’t be alone. I’m a SAHM. Why pay unnecessary bills and waste money if I’m just going to be at her house anyway. 
Alot if people make fun of adults who are living with their parents. It’s not that their losers IMO it’s that we see no need to move. People do it in other countries to save money all the time. 
(Now if they have no job and don’t help around the house that’s a different story lol 😝)

That’s a very Western thing. A lot of places people don’t ever move out they have family compounds or large villas that multiple generations of families live in.

I think it can potentially be an issue in trying to build a romantic relationship. A lot of adults (justifiably imo) wouldn't be thrilled about hanging out, sleeping over, etc. at their new partner's parents' space. It's either awkward tiptoeing around or getting to know the partner & his parents simultaneously. That's the main issue I can see.

It brings into question how independent and self sufficient they are. People who are adults and not in school should have a job. Helping around the house is an absolute minimum expectation, this should begin in childhood. Like I have a 2 year old and 6 year old... they help around the house.

I wouldn't do it but I don't think adults that live at home are necessarily losers. I would be kinda hesitant to date a guy that lives with his family though. Unless he's a full time college student or something. It's just less freedom.
Living at home as an adult wouldn't work for me. When I turned 18 my parents said "we don't have room for adults here, you have to get out". If I were to stay they'd literally take all my money. I was actually better off moving out and finding friends to split rent with.

My brother is 22 and still at home, has a job, a car, pays rent, his phone bill & gives my parents money for groceries every week too. He has saved up a lot by doing that. He also isn’t looking to date. Sometimes it frustrates me because i felt like he got better treatment than me but i think it makes my mom happy to have him there so she can still make dinners and just have him there to talk whenever.

If the parents don't have a problem with it I see no issue in an adult living with their parents. My brother lived at home until he was 26. He could have moved out earlier but his girlfriend (now fiance) lived 2 hours away and they were saving to buy a house together so it didn't make sense for either of them to have to spend a bunch of money to rent an apartment every month when their parents were happy to have them living at home still. Them staying living at home was one of the smartest things they did.

My parents agree that it would be stupid for me to pay California rent prices to just be alone all the time

I don’t know where people get the idea that being at home when you have a certain age isn’t acceptable. 🤷🏽‍♀️
My parents are like, this is your house you can come and leave whenever you want without questions. My mom always have at least one bedroom ready for unexpected guests. My brother lived a while at home, he is architect so it isn’t that he doesn’t has money, he just enjoys being around the family and help where he can in the household. Now he is living in Dubai for work. My partner parents are the same. Both of our parents rather have us live with them forever, but maybe this is a culture thing (African and my partner is Turkish)
We are going to travel the world in 2020 with our little one, so we sold our house and are going to live with my parents for the last half year before we take off. This was was music to my parents ears.
