When should I actually install my babies car seat?

I’m a ftm and I’m 38 w and 2 d and I’m wondering when I should install the car seat

I installed the base earlier but didn’t put the seat in. I didn’t want to risk getting in an accident and having to buy a new one.

I went into labor at 36 weeks, and was home.with baby 2 days later. I would go to the fire department and put it in yesterday.

I've always installed the carseat around 38 weeks. I'm 38+1 and installed the base today. I leave the actual seat inside till labor, just in case I get into an accident then I'd only have to buy a new base.

I’m 34 weeks and already dilated 3 and 70% thinned... it’s a 50/50 chance at my apts if I get to come home because once I hit 5 she keeps me, base is installed... all I need to do is grab the seat with my bag when I walk out

We will put the carseat in when we go to leave the hospital. This is our second so we know what to do, it takes 2 seconds to install. Not sure what vehicle we will be taking when we go so we will just grab it on the way out.

My midwife told me to have everything ready for the baby to come at 38 weeks. Since you can go into labor spontaneously anytime between 38-42 weeks👌🏼 I installed mine last week just bc we didn’t have room for it in my house (it’s a convertible one)

I already had my baby by the time I was 38 and 2! Just install the base and put the seat in the car when you go to the hospital. I actually didn’t have it in my car cause I was induced directly after a doctor appointment so hubby just brought it with him when he met me at the hospital later that day.

My water broke while I was helping my hubby install ours at 38 weeks lol. I’d say the sooner the better just in case.
