Anyone have experience with Lysine while pregnant?

Hey all, wondering if anyone has some insight for me here. I have a tendency to get cold sores every couple of years and whenever i feel the symptoms coming on, i take a few Lysine vitamins to suppress the outbreak. Has anyone taken lysine during pregnancy? I called my dr but he doesn’t know much about it. Does anyone know if its safe to take? Im 9 weeks.

My husband gets a coldsore outbreak on his lip periodically. He used to use a topical medicine, but now whenever he feels a coldsore coming on he puts ice on it until he can't stand the cold (on and off for about half hour). Then he'll repeat that a few times throughout the day (and next day maybe) until it stops. He hasn't had a coldsore since starting that in 6 years! NO MEDS NECESSARY!!!

Valacyclovir is safe for use during pregnancy and nursing. So you should consider getting a script of that instead. I used it during pregnancy and it works better than the lysine.
