Medela doesn’t have a closed system like the Spectra. That means Spectra doesn’t get moldy because milk doesn’t ever go in where it shouldn’t. Medela can have mold problems with time since it’s not a closed system. Never knew this until my doula told me. Used Spectra pump with my first and I got another one for my second due in September. :)

I used a medela with my first 2 babies and didn’t have an issue, but heard GREAT things about the Spectra2 and went with that this time around. The medela battery pack car charger are compatible so that will be helpful for me too!

A bunch of moms in my office prefer the Spectra S2 over Medela - they said it’s much quieter and better suction!

I really liked the Spectra S-9 plus last time and plan to get it this time too.
Unlike the others, it's very portable and can run off of rechargable battery or plugged into the wall so you can pump in the car or ant random place you need to.  I traveled quite a bit for work and worked from different locations so that was important to me. It's also a closed system.
Even at home it was nice - I'd typically need to pump in the morning before work. I just tucked it into my pajama pocket, put on a hands free pumping bra and got ready while pumping.
The only downsides I could see are that the highest power setting is slightly lower than the S-2. This wasn't a problem for me because I never got close to using the highest setting anyway. Also, a lot of the other pumps come packaged with a pumping bag and this one didn't (at least on the site I got it from). That wasn't a big deal for me.
